Dubai Customs completes final phases of inspection electronic competency program

Within its efforts to enhance ongoing and sustainable development of the competencies of its employees, the HR Department at Dubai Customs completed the inspectors’ final phases of the evaluation program (electronic competency program) which saw the participation of 164 inspection officers and achieved 97% happiness level. 


A detailed future plan has been put forward to evaluate and develop inspectors’ skills which ensure inspectors receive updated information around inspection and the best world practices in the field. In fulfilment of the Government Department’s vision to become the leading customs organization in the world supporting legitimate trade, Dubai Customs provides its inspectors with best training using the latest technologies and systems.  


Commenting on this, Mohammed Al Ghaffari, Acting Executive Director, Human Resources, Finance and Administration Division at Dubai Customs said: 



“An active electronic competency in place supports the customs activity in Dubai which helps enhance national economic potentials and increases the attractiveness and competitiveness of the business sector while protecting the society and ensuring its safety.” 


Al Ghaffari said the Department completed a number of initiatives that aimed at honing the skills of the inspection officers following the best international standards making use of the advanced technological structure Dubai Customs has. 



These included the X20 development program to teach the new inspectors how to be ready for the job, among others. 



On his part, Adel Jasim Al Mekki, Senior Inspection Manager at Terminal 1 said: 

“This program is a quantum leap and an ambitious step to recruit the best skills in the market and enhance future prospective. The program selects best candidates, who will be leaders in customs in the future, based on very high professional standards. The program will also help other inspectors learn more about their points of strength and where they can develop.
