Dubai Customs takes part in International Student Conference in Azerbaijan

Dubai Customs recently took part in the 5-day International Student Conference in Azirbaijan under the title “Contemporary Issues and Challenges in Customs Management”. The conference was organized by the International Network of Customs Universities (INCU) Baku Regional Office together with the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Customs Academy.

 

Dubai Customs’ delegation to the conference was headed by Edris Behzad, Client Management Director and included Matar Rashid Al Muhairi, Head of Internal Equipment at Dubai International Airport’s Passenger Operation Department, Ahmed Anbar Al Falasi, Senior Inspector, Azza Salim Al Kabi, Senior Auditor, and Badria Mohammed Murad, Senior Auditor. 
Speakers at the conference included two Nobel Laureates in Economic Sciences, Professor Edward Prescott of the Arizona State University and Professor Christopher Pissarides of the London School of Economics and Political Science. Professor Prescott delivered a presentation on “The current state of the US economy” while Professor Pissarides spoke on “Work in the Age of Robots and Artificial Intelligence”.
In attendance were representatives from 31 countries–students studying customs at the universities of Azerbaijan, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Laos, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, the Philippines, Poland, Russian Federation, Senegal, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, the US, Uzbekistan and Vietnam–as well as customs specialists and representatives of the World Customs Organization, INCU, BP and Easy Frontier.
Commenting on this participation, Edris Behzad said: “ This event is a good opportunity to learn about the best customs practices and services and latest trade trends and regulations. The exchange of knowledge in this event has benifited all parties towards a better world trade workflow against all the current challenges”.
He added that Dubai Customs keeps abreast of the latest trends and practices in the field to serve the clients with the best services and facilitations in translation of the wise leadership’s vision. 

 

“The initiatives and projects implemented by Dubai Customs are part of its contrbution towards the fulfilment of the strategic goals of Dubai Plan 2021” Behzad said.
