Ahmed bin Mohammed attends mass wedding of GDRFA and PCFC

​His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended the mass wedding that was held at Grand Hyatt Hotel on Thursday 25th May 2017 for the employees of Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) and the General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA). His Highness congratulated the bridegrooms and wished them a happy and stable life.
The wedding was attended by Sultan bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman & CEO and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, and Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, plus a number of PCFC’s directors and employees.

 The initiative, which was organized by PCFC for the sixth year in a row with the active participation of the General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), saw 100 bridegrooms celebrate their wedding day under the theme “Happy Emirates Wedding”. The initiative follows the wise directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and is a step to reduce wedding party extravagant costs. 
Sultan bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman & CEO and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation congratulated the bridegroomss, saying that mass weddings are a great idea to curb extravagant marriage expenses, and a good way to show and promote social solidarity.
Bin Sulayem added:” The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, focuses on helping families towards more stability and happiness. Happy families are our strategic objective. We always follow this wise vision of building stronger and more stable UAE families. With this in mind, we support young people who plan to get married”.
Bin Sulayem applauded the strategic partnership with GDRFA and their cooperation with PCFC for the fourth year in a row.
“Happy Emirates Wedding” celebrated a hundred bridegrooms; 38 from PCFC and 62 from GDRFA.
Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director General of GDRFA in Dubai said: “The youth of today are our future and they are the UAE’s real asset. We realize the pivotal role these young people play in sustaining development and prosperity. Mass weddings is a great initiative that was started by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God have mercy upon him). This will encourage young people to get married and start their family life without having to worry about extravagant marriage expenses”.

On his part, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih confirmed the importance of these mass weddings describing them as one of Dubai Customs’ strategic goals to support Emirati families and support the UAE’s youth.
Musabih added:” The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has provided all facilitations towards a more coherent family. We are all appreciative to our wise leadership for supporting our country’s youth”.
On his part Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communication Department, Chairperson of the Mass Wedding Committee pointed out that the committee has worked, during the previous years, to maximize the benefits expected from mass weddings.
“It’s a great initiative that enhances solidarity in society and help illuminate some incorrect social behaviors that involve overspending and extravagance” he explained.
The mass wedding was simple and elegant. It included folkloric songs and dances. The bridegrooms extended their thanks to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai for their wise directives to sustain a happy and prosperous life for the Emiratis.
