The Dubai Customs’ Customer Service Center at Dubai Cars & Automotive Zone (Ducamz) delivered 185,150 transactions during January-September 2016, reporting a 25% growth from the 147,704 transactions posted during the same period last year.

“The total value of automotive transactions processed till end of September this year reached AED 6.176 billion, which covers 141,320 vehicles imported and 154,775 re-exported,” said Mohammed Al Muaini, Director of Land Customs Centers Management at Dubai Customs.

That marks a significant increase from the figure scored during the first nine months of 2015 which stood at AED 5.669 billion, he added.

“The remarkable rise in the number of transactions confirms Dubai's stature as a major auto trading hub connecting western and eastern markets. Strong strategic partnerships with stakeholders, smooth and speedy procedures, and hassle-free delivery of customs transactions have all led to increased trade flow in Ducamz and greater competitive advantage for member companies and showrooms,” Al Muaini continued.

“Despite the impact of world economic fluctuations, Dubai has maintained a steady trade growth due to an attractive and encouraging investment environment with top-notch infrastructure, liberal economic policies, and lower operational costs.”

Ducamz Customs’ Customer Service Manager, Abdulla Rashid, said the number of licensed showrooms in Ducamz amounts to about 400, noting that the specialized free zone was established in 1999 and is strategically located in Ras Al Khor area, 11 Km away from Dubai International Airport, and 30 minutes from Al Maktoum Airport and Jebel Ali Port. “The zone has been a real magnet for traders and investors to do business in the thriving automotive import and re-export sector.”

Abdulla Rashid emphasized that Ducamz Customs Center continually seeks to provide high-quality services to customers to facilitate their dealings. The center provides a smart service through ‘Mirsal 2’ application, which serves customers around the clock, seven days a week, as well as via Dubai Trade portal at www.dubaitrade.ae.

As many as 204,120 transactions were received and delivered through Mirsal 2 last year, while 185,149 transactions were processed by the end of September 2016, he added.

Abdulla Rashid attributed such enormous increase in the volume of transactions by Ducamz Customs Center, primarily to the top standard of services being offered to the free zone based showrooms, which allow processing on-the-spot inspections of vehicles and delivery of transactions in the smartest and most accurate ways, using the advanced Siebel system now operative on portable e-enabled tools, including tablets and smart phones.
