Dubai Customs awards its distinguished inspectors and employees during the annual ceremony “Fakhr Al Furdha”

Dubai Customs held the annual ceremony “Fakhr Al Furdha” to award its distinguished inspectors and employees in 2009 recognizing their efforts and initiatives which have contributed to the overall success of the Department.
H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Dubai Customs Director General spoke to the employees from the heart when he talked about the Department’s journey in 2009 which witnessed several success stories.
H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed expressed his satisfaction and gratitude to all the employees who exerted much of their efforts and worked together to reinforce the Department’s success and further develop the performance.
H.E. said:" The Department’s achievements in 2009 could have never been accomplished without uniting and coordinating efforts and working together within a clear work methodology and a strategic plan stemming from Dubai’s strategic plan. Such a plan has helped us to sustain the implementation of our plan’s objectives especially safeguarding the local community, reinforcing economic and social development in Dubai and protecting the legitimate international trade.” He stressed that the Department’s role is considered patriotic in the first place.
During the ceremony which was organized by the Customs Department at Dubai Customs, H.E. highlighted some aspects of the achievements of 2009 in terms of facilitating trade movement in Dubai through adopting hi-tech systems such as Mirsal2. The long anticipated dream came true last July when the system was launched to serve the clients, facilitate the processes and accelerate business procedures.
Moreover, he referred to the several ISO certificates Dubai Customs has earned in 2009 as well as the various regional and international awards.
H.E. the Director General stated:" This annual tradition has been taking place every year in order to give those hard-working employees credit for their contributions which rendered into sustainable success in different domains and departments. Such a thing reflects on their serious commitment and devotion to work.”
He also praised Customs inspectors’ role in foiling many smuggling attempts of narcotics and contrabands which threaten the community in addition to the negative consequences on the producers and trademark owners’ economies and original products.
H.E. confirmed that all the managers and employees are performing national duties in the first place and are giving back to the government which has always lent them a hand and provided them with every sort of support whenever they needed it.
He added that the Department keeps pace with the overall success in Dubai confirming the great role Dubai Customs plays in local economy and community. He also commended all employees’ efforts and roles in anchoring the corporate values and achieving its national plans and goals.
During the ceremony, H.E. awarded 260 employees from different divisions. Sixty-five of them were inspectors from different Customs centers whose excellence was visible in the huge volume and large number of seizures they performed and who have showed much commitment to their work. The awarded inspectors were presented appreciation certificates and “Fakhr Al Furdha” badges of honor. Moreover, another 39 Customs inspectors who completed the Inspectors Basics Course Number 15, which is conducted in cooperation with Dubai Police Academy, were awarded during the ceremony as well.
In addition, winners of “Tanafus” program, an internal program to encourage and reward employees, were also awarded during the ceremony.
The Department also awarded six retired employees, thirty employees who have been working for the Department for over 25 years and 22 employees who have submitted fruitful suggestions which were implemented at the Department during the second annual half of 2009 as part of the Suggestions and Rewards Scheme.
The inspectors and employees who contributed to the success of the UAE 38th National Day celebrations at the Department were also awarded during the event.
As for the division that scored the highest rate of career satisfaction, the Client Management Division was awarded for scoring the highest result in the survey. Whereas the Air Cargo Operations Department was awarded for being the best department which scored the highest rate of career satisfaction.
During the ceremony, the Department’s vision, mission, values and strategic goals were demonstrated by the Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department at Dubai Customs.
Furthermore, a presentation on Dubai Customs achievements in 2009 and the future projects until 2011 was given by the HR Department. Another presentation was given on the results of the career satisfaction survey and a third one on the latest initiatives at Dubai Customs in the field of humanitarian action throughout 2009.
