Dubai- Affirming its practical efforts in protecting intellectual property rights (IPR) and supporting legitimate trade movement, Dubai Customs destroyed a large amount of confiscated fake and restricted goods.
Mr. Salah Ali Al Sammach, Seizure Section Manager at the Airport Customer Service Department pointed out that the necessary environment conditions were taken while performing the process on counterfeited and restricted goods which entry into the UAE is prohibited unless an authorization is issued by the respective entities. He stated that such harmful goods threaten the consumers and the economy as they do not meet the standards’ specification.
Mr. Al Sammach stressed that the extermination of the counterfeited and restricted goods was in place to implement Dubai Customs’ vision and mission towards safeguarding the society and maintaining the legitimate trade movement through protecting trademark owners’ rights and the consumers’ wellbeing.
The destroyed goods included fake products with duplicated trademark such as ties, glasses, glasses boxes, perfumes, mobile phones accessories, pens, balls, cars spare parts and electronics, auto electrical chargers, screwdrivers, printers requisites and they were all duplicated. Also, a large number of CDs (encryption software) and some medicine (bills) with some Chinese description were destroyed.
