Dubai Customs has participated recently in an evacuation exercise that took place at Terminal I of Dubai International Airport, a move reflects its keenness on standing prepared for emergencies.
The exercise, which was conducted under the supervision of Dubai Airports in collaboration with its all strategic partners, aims at measuring preparedness of Terminal 1 different operators for any emergency, ensuring safety of passengers and property and preventing occurrence of any errors or human and physical losses.
As part of its keenness to conduct the exercise effectively and efficiently, Terminal 1 Management established an evacuation team representing all Sections.
The evacuation team was tasked with coordinating evacuation plan requirements at all targeted areas, which included hand bags inspection area, arrivals inspection lounge, customer services and inspection desks and follow-up and Management offices.
Dubai Customs has been preparing for the exercise through series of joint workshops between Passengers Operations department, Quality section at the Strategy and Corporate Excellence department at Dubai Customs.
The evacuation procedures details and responsibilities of relevant parties were agreed in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety System (OHSAS 18001), one of the best applicable world system applicable to such area and Dubai Customs as well.
“This move reflects Dubai Customs keenness on the security and safety of employees and passengers where best international OHSA standards are applicable enhancing the organizational ability to effectively and efficiently handle contingent crises,” said Ali Al Maqhawi, Director of Passengers Operations at Dubai Customs.
Praising partners’ cooperation and keenness on sharing expertise, Al Maqhawi pointed out that Dubai Customs seeks to actively take part in activities aiming at improving performance and increasing its employee’s competency at their different job grades and titles.
