The Six-a-Side Football Tournament for the year 2010 which was organized by Dubai Customs under the sponsorship of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum – Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority was played the final On Sunday evening -29 August 2010.
The tournament events celebration was presented by His Excellence Ahmed Butti Ahmed – Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation - the General Director of Dubai Customs with the attendance of a number of managers from Dubai Customs. Jebel Ali football team was nominated at the first place after beating the Passenger Investigation football team (1-0). The Airport Terminal 1 football team nominated at the third place. Dubai Customs honored the national football coach – Mr. Mahadi Ali for his efforts and many accomplishments (the latest one- winning the Gulf Cup). Ahmed Alnoobi from Port Rashid Customs Centre won the prize of the best footballer in the tournament. From Airport Terminal 1 – Abdurahman Alharithi won the prize of the best scorer, from Passenger Investigation – Kkalid Ahosni got the prize of the best goal-keeper and the prize of the fair-play was handed to the Communication Dept.
Mr. Yousif Aziz – Chairman of Sports Activities Committee- the Senior Manager of IPR Dept learnt that: the total participators were 240 players and admin representing 24 teams from different departments and sections. The tournament total matches were completed 40 matches by this final, managed by good local referee members and supervised by the Sports Activities Committee. The Referee and Assessment Board controlled the games. The tournament was enjoyable, active, exiting and characterized by the fair-play amongst all the competitive opponent teams. He added that: the organized tournament which was attended by great numbers of spectators and participants, demonstrates Dubai Customs keenness of establishing fraternal, communication and amiable interrelationship amongst the employees.
Mohammed Faraj Abdualla – Chairman of The Ramadan Six-a-Side football Tournament – the Manager of the Client Relation Dept, said: the success of the tournament was clearly tangible because it was organized under the sponsorship of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum- Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and because of the sincere support from the part of Dubai Customs persons and their encouragement for the employees to attend and interact.
In the final, Lasers shows and fireworks were displayed and in the half time some skilful ball-shows were displayed by a talented young and a documentary film about the tournament was shown.
The tournament was organized in Almizhar Sports Hall in Dubai under the sponsorship of some pioneer companies, namely, DG (Platinum Sponsor), Prism Company (Golden Sponsor), Axiom Telecom, Aramex, Iros, Nakheel Travel and Ajmal Perfumes (Silver Sponsors) and Paris Gallery (Bronze Sponsor), besides, Dubai Refreshment Company and the National Corporation for Trades and Development.
