H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs, CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation toured the Customs Declaration Department and the Control Room at the Customs Intelligence Department as part of Dubai Customs’ efforts to develop customs procedures and services.

Saeed Mustafawi, Senior Manager of New Declaration Section delivered a presentation on the Department’s workflow and performance.

The Customs Declaration Department completed 22.5 million customs declarations last year growing 6% from 21.2 million declarations in 2021. The Control Room presented their major achievements including the progress they made in the direct integration with the international seizure reports and the connection with the global aviation traffic for incoming and outgoing flights at Dubai Airports.

Other topics were presented including the international operations in which the Intelligence Department was involved, performance at Jebel Ali Port and Hatta Customs Center, the risk engine and different means to develop overall performance.

“The Customs Declaration Department plays a key role in facilitating external trade through quality performance and outstanding service, which leads to happier clients and greater revenues for them,” said Musabih. “The Control Room also plays a key role in developing performance of inspection customs centers. The staff here have gained distinctive skills thanks to the intensive training they receive and the advanced technological infrastructure.

It is important that we keep up with the targets of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seeks to double the value of Dubai foreign trade to AED 25.6 trillion by 2033. This requires a comprehensive development of all our smart electronic systems and upgrading the capabilities and skills of employees to ensure further facilitation of trade and tighter control over the borders.”
