Dubai Customs enhances cooperation with MoCCAE to support national food security

Dubai Customs’ Tariff & Origin Department held a meeting with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE), which was attended by Mohammed Mousa Al-Ameeri, Assistant Under-Secretary of the Food Diversity Sector at MoCCAE, and Fatima Obeid Al-Kalbani, head of agricultural development section. From Dubai Customs, Ahmad Al-Khuroosi, Director of Customs Tariff & Origin Department and Omar Abanda, Expert, Taiff & Origin Department attended the meeting.

The meeting aims to enhance Dubai Customs’ efforts in supporting food security in the UAE through the development of the agricultural sector and empower it by facilitating the import of agricultural equipment and machinery.  

In the meeting, the two parties discussed different means of cooperation between the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and Dubai Customs regarding the best customs facilities that help boost national food security and develop modern agriculture. 

The two sides confirmed the importance of uniting and consolidating efforts of different local authorities to serve the food security purpose. This includes an integrated electronic system between the local authorities and the Ministry. 

MoCCAE thanked Dubai Customs for their noticeable role in supporting economic development through the smart services and facilities they provide. 

“Supporting national economic development is a priority at Dubai Customs, “said Ahmad Al-Khuroosi. “Towards this end, we continuously develop and update our customs services to ensure all goods and products enter the market with minimum cost and time in line with the vision of the wise leadership. We work hard to meet the needs of the agricultural sector in coordination with MoCCAE, and this meeting is a good opportunity to discuss all technical aspects to ensure customs services are provided in the best possible way.”
