H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs, CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation honored outstanding customs centers and departments, which won the HR Awards launched by Dubai Customs in the last quarter of 2021.
The awards were launched to build capacities, develop performance, create positively competitive environment and celebrate and motivate creativity in the workplace.
Executive directors and heads of customs departments and centers attended the virtual ceremony.
“We are committed to continuing the development of our HR potential and reach highest levels of employee happiness, while focusing on building skillful human resources to ensure continued success and excellence,” said H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih. “Dubai Customs made considerable progress in motivating departments towards positive performance in all aspects in accordance with the objectives of the UAE Centennial Plan 2071. We are introducing a unique model of modernity and development to the whole world, working diligently to achieve targets, on top of which raising the emirate’s external trade to AED 2 trillion.”

Director General of Dubai Customs said the HR Award, along with other awards launched by the government department, is meant to celebrate excellence and outstanding performance. These awards include Al Thuraya, Al Furdah Falcons, and Customs Leadership. These awards serve Dubai Customs’ strategic plan 2021-2026, which aims to sustain the momentum of development and progress in the UAE.
Musabih said Dubai Customs performed well in this field, and ranked among the top ten in the best work environments in the Middle East 2021, according to the Great Place to Work Trust Index. The Government Department has also won the Dubai Government Excellence’s Elite Award 2020-2021, and more recently, the Government Department’s Customs Dolphins project won the UAE Innovates 2022 under the Disruptive Innovation Category.
Along the same line, Mohammed Al Ghaffari, Executive Director, Human Resources, Finance and Administration Division at Dubai Customs said the four categories of the HR Award help nourish a culture of excellence, and they are a reflection and appreciation of the departments’ outstanding efforts. 16 customs departments and 10 centers went through to top places in the award, and this is an indication of the success of the first phase of the award, which is launched on a quarterly basis.
