A delegation from Khalifa Hospital Abu Dhabi visits Dubai Customs Nursery

A delegation from Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi visited Dubai Customs nursery on Sunday 12 December 2010 to be more acquainted with this forward initiative that comes within the frame of Dubai Customs’ social responsibility towards its staff and community as a whole. The nursery was established following the lines and national standards of child care that was put by Dubai Women Establishment.
Mariam Al Shamsi, director of the nursery, welcomed the delegation that included Mrs. Lina Muqaiad and Mariam Ghanim private project coordinators at Khalifa Hospital and briefed them with the role of the nursery in enhancing female staff loyalty to the department. At the same time the nursery works on developing children’s ability to express themselves and communicate with others.
Al Shamsi said that the nursery has a perfect model design that follows the latest trends in architecture. She added that the nursery is run by a female specialized and qualified team, and it includes all child educational, entertainment and health needs.
The visiting delegation was introduced to the nursery facilities and listened to the staff’s experience with the children. The delegation also was briefed with the most important activities and entertainment programs that are carried out. The delegation members expressed their admiration to the high quality tools and facilities available at the nursery and the level of service provided which can serve as a catalyst in urging females to join the department.
HH Sheikha Manal Bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and president of the Dubai Women Establishment (DWE) had inaugurated the nursery of Dubai Customs on first April 2009. it is the first modal nursery established especially for the children of female staff of a government department in Dubai. Later male employees were allowed to bring their children into the nurse.
Dubai Customs nursery has lately obtained first place in final nominations at Ideas UK association because of the positive results it generated in terms of raising staff’s satisfaction and helping mothers strike balance between family and professional life.
