The ceremony was organized online in the presence of executive directors and heads of customs departments.

In the second edition of Al Thuraya, there were 50 nominations, out of which 40 were accepted to first stage. In the final, 22 were selected as winners of the ten categories of the award.

Al Thuraya award was launched in January 2019, and it aims at motivating women and supporting their important role in the Government Department to achieve more productivity in the workplace.

“Dubai Customs supports female employees and provide them with different means to help them innovate in line with the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. Al Thuraya Award is an initiative that helps boost female employees’ performance, and we have 754 female employees, including 255 who work in the field as inspectors. They all work diligently towards the continuous success of Dubai Customs and to fulfil its vision of becoming the leading customs administration in the world that supports legitimate trade,” said Musabih.

Musabih awarded the winners under categories including Distinguished Leading Woman, Distinguished Female Administrator, Distinguished Customs Woman, among others.

The 50% representation of women in UAE’s Federal National Council illustrates the country’s future approach aimed at achieving the full potential of Emirati women, their effective participation, and equal opportunities for leadership at all decision-making levels.

Musabih added; “Thanks to the blessed efforts and support of our wise leadership, women assume very high positions in the country, and in line with this, we have formed the Women’s Committee that oversees all women supporting initiatives.”

Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim, Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence at Dubai Customs said women receive support from the wise leadership.

“Our wise leadership is continuing this approach to empowering women, which was established by our Founding Father, the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was a strong supporter of women and who encouraged them to play a role in the nation’s development. Inspired by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and her ceaseless support of women, we always work hard to ensure the excellence and leadership of female employees.”
Kazim said the initiatives launched by Dubai Customs, including Al Thuraya Award, will motivate women to even more hard work and dedication in line with the national strategies in the 50th year.
