
Dubai Customs won the World CIO 200 Award in the latest edition of the Global CIO Forum, organized in Dubai with the presence of digital leaders, innovators and decision makers. The virtual World CIO Summit saw the participation of 26 countries and more than 3,000 experts who actively participated in more than 250 interactive sessions and discussion panels.
Dubai Customs, represented by the Service Innovation Department, gained the accolade in recognition of their sound and innovative management, implementation, and usability of information technologies, and their leading role in the digital transformation in the region and beyond.
Dubai Customs was nominated to this award for the remarkable implementation of enterprise practices, big data, AI, blockchain and the 4th industrial revolution technologies, along with their innovative cross border e-commerce outstanding performance.
“This new achievement adds up to many accolades Dubai Customs gained thanks to the implementation of the latest AI technologies,” said H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs. “We confirm our commitment to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai of fulfilling the national innovation strategy to turn the UAE into the most innovative country in the world. This award recognizes our proven record and outstanding performance and reflects Dubai Customs distinctive experiences worldwide, and will enhance the leading global status the UAE enjoys. The successful investment in smart systems including Dubai Customs infrastructure has helped Dubai Customs complete 16 million transactions in the last year during what has been a testing time for all. 99.3% of the transactions were completed through smart channels, and Dubai Customs broke a record by completing 89,000 transactions in a single day.”

In the same vein, Dr. Hussam Juma, Director, Service Innovation Department said: “Dubai Customs works diligently to ensure sustainable investment in advanced technologies and innovations, and to develop unique and smart systems to meet, or even exceed, clients and partners’ expectations. This resulted in a smooth digital transformation and raised e-service delivery to 99.3% in 2020.
Established in 2017, The CIO 200 is a multi-country CIO felicitation ceremony that recognizes the achievements of the ‘Digital leaders’ of today. The CIO 200 Awards is not a competition but a celebration, which celebrates the amazing lives of the CIOs and their career span.
