Director General of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih received in his office His Excellency Farouq Abdul Karim Tawahria, Ambassador of Algeria to UAE. The two discussed means of boosting cooperation between Algeria and the UAE especially in bilateral trade and customs business.
The meeting was attended by Falah Khalil Al Sammak, senior manager of DXB Terminal 2 and Sara Al Suwaidi, head of external relations section at Dubai Customs.
“We are keen to boost our partnership with the Algerian diplomatic missions and companies. We have priorities which include delivering a leading customs expertise to the world” said Musabih. “Algeria is one of the important trade partners to Dubai, and our mutual trade in 2018 made Dh2.56b, divided into imports at Dh290m, exports at Dh780m, and re-exports at Dh1.49b. And in the first 9 months of 2019, our trade with Algeria reached Dh2.87b, divided into imports at Dh1.165b, exports at Dh460m, and re-exports at Dh1.244b.
“We look forward to more trade and cooperation with Algeria and to provide more access for the Algerian companies to benefit from our advanced customs systems and facilities. We try our best to add value to the business of our valued partners by applying the latest AI applications and IT systems.
“Hosting EXPO 2020 is a golden opportunity to develop trade ties with other friendly states. Algerian companies participating in the mega-event will have the chance to learn more about the world-class facilities Dubai provide in support of the regional and international trade.”
His Excellency, Farouq Abdul Karim Tawahria applauded Dubai Customs’ efforts in facilitating trade stating that Dubai is a world class trade and tourism hub and a central link between the east and west.
