He explained that the narcotics were similarly hidden into wooden toys within the three parcels.
The Senior Manager of the Dubai Customs Air Cargo Operation said: the team inspectors suspected into the contents and accordingly the three parcels were scanned by the X-ray and surprisingly the machine showed abnormal density into the pockets inside the parcels indicating some stuffs inside. While searching manually the wooden toys, inspectors put a hand on 9kg of exotic substance (each 3kg in a separate parcel), accumulated experiences of the team inspectors led them to identify the characteristics of the substance as narcotics. Dubai Customs Mobile Lab was called, took a sample from the contraband for the examination and reported that the suspected exotic substance was narcotic opium.
Within the framework of continued cooperation with Dubai Police Headquarter General Anti- Drug Dept office, the intelligence information of the three shipments disseminated to the competent authority in the destination countries. Closely handover surveillance was pursuit over these three western countries and these mutual efforts between Dubai Customs, Dubai Police Headquarter and the competent authorities oversea led to seize the three shipments at airports of these western countries and consignees were sent to investigation after they were caught red-handed
Mr. Omar Al Mehairy stressed on keenness of Dubai Customs and efforts for supporting international legitimate trade and controlling transportation of internationally prohibited and restricted goods which deemed harmful to the health of man whether infiltrated to the local markets or intended to transport oversea via Dubai. He appreciated vigilance and cleverness of Dubai Customs inspectors for thwarting any cheating ways used by smugglers with the attempt of transporting drugs alluding to high spontaneous sense of security and keenness with aim of maintaining fame of Dubai and UAE worldwide.
