
First halted passenger with the attempt to smuggle 4kg of the crystal
Dubai Customs inspectors at Dubai Intl Airport, in two separate operations caught passengers coming from a neighboring country attempted to smuggle 7kg of the narcotic-crystal

Mr. Almughwai explained that in the first attempt, it was noticed the passenger’s attitude of hesitation while approaching near to the searching area. This behavior attracted the attention of the inspectors who subsequently decided to search the luggage through the operating advanced machines. The imaging machine showed anomalies at sides and bottom area of the bag.
Doubts were confirmed when the inspectors found a black tape wrapped around internal peripheries inside the bag. Subsequently they manually searched the bag at the presence of the passenger and they could find three plastic reels wrapped into a carbon papers with aim of hiding the contents. the inspectors, after they removed the papers and the tape, a white substance, weighs 4kg was detected and it was confirmed as the narcotic crystal.

Some Iranian banknotes were also caught in a jacket inside the bag. The banknote were confirmed by the machine as counterfeited.
Almughwai said in the second operation, the inspection team suspected in a passenger’s attitude and perturbation while approaching near to the inspection area for checking. The imaging system showed anomalies at the bottom inside one of his bags. The manual searching led to detect a secret pocket containing a substance which later on turned out to be the narcotic crystal, weighs about 3kg, wrapped inside a transparent plastic bag.

The two passengers were referred along with seizures reports to Dubai Police Anti-Narcotic Dept. office at Dubai Intl Airport and the counterfeited banknotes were handed over to the Airports Security Dept. to proceed necessary actions.

Almaghawi emphasized that the skills and efficiency of the inspectors and using most advance inspection machines along with the training courses provided by Dubai Customs in relation to how operating inspections, identifying ways of smuggling, body language and investigation process will help them much in carrying out this national economic and social role keeping in mind they represent and protect the country.
