Dubai Customs puts Dubai Government Unified Suggestion System into practice once inaugurated by Dubai Crown Prince

Being among the first government departments to implement the system, Dubai Customs commenced practical execution of the Unified Suggestion System for the clients and employees which was inaugurated on Monday, May 16th, 2011 by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council
H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, Dubai Customs Director General stated that inaugurating the system by HH Sheikh Hamdan reflects his great interest to developing governmental business, encouraging creativity and innovation.
H.E. Ahmed Butti said that the Department was among the first government departments to implement Dubai Government’s Unified Suggestion System (e-suggest) which aims at handling suggestions effectively and efficiently and utilizing them in improving corporate performance, reinforcing excellence and creativity, cultivating a culture of vibrant communication and achieving positive financial and moral outcomes for the Department and the government as well.
Mrs. Feryal Tawakul, Executive Director of Community Affairs and Government Partnership at Dubai Customs said that the Department implements most advanced systems in receiving employees and clients’ suggestions electronically through the Suggestion and Reward Scheme (SRS) since 2004. The SRS system was developed last year and renamed Baader. In 2010, 1613 suggestions were received; an increase by 28% compared to the total number of suggestions submitted in 2009.
Mrs. Tawakul expressed her appreciation to H.E. Ahmed Butti for his infinite support to the Dubai Government’s Unified Suggestion System and his keenness to be among the leading government departments to adopt the system in Dubai due to the massive benefits resulted from its implementation.
She added:" The Department kicked off an awareness program to educate the employees and customers in all subsidiary centers about the system to motivate positive interaction with it and to get acquainted with its features and advantages”.
It is worth mentioning that Baader system received the Platinum Accreditation certificate from Ideas UK Association last October; being the first government department in the world to receive the certificate from the first time of the audit processes taken by the Ideas UK team. The award is considered the highest award granted by UK Ideas.
Moreover, Dubai Customs won the social responsibility category of Ideas UK competition at its last cycle while suggestions made by the employees of the total submitted suggestions to Ideas UK and qualified to the finals with 15% of the total suggestions among 35 suggestions internationally for nine different categories.
Dubai Customs backed numerous events and conferences related to creative ideas and constructive suggestions organized internally and externally; the last of which was co-sponsoring the Ideas Arabia 6th International Conference recently organized by Dubai Quality Group in Dubai.
