Dubai Customs and DNRD ink MoU

Dubai Customs and the General Department of Naturalization and Residency in Dubai (DNRD) signed last Tuesday 14 June a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing continuous and developed partnership relationship in the field of exchanging information, knowledge, related studies, visits and training courses and supporting partnership efforts to achieve Dubai vision in each side’s field of specialty, enhance process performance and facilitate procedures as well as develop governmental services and achieve integration.

H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Dubai Customs Director General and Major General H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Al Merri, Director of DNRD signed the MoU at Dubai Customs headquarters in the presence of a number of managers and high officials of both sides.
H.E. Ahmed Butti stressed that signing the MoU comes as part of the solid relations Dubai Customs has with DNRD seeking to mutually integrate efforts, exchange expertise, and achieve the best service performance for the different customers’ categories and provide them with the top service delivery standards.
Both sides are keen on reinforcing partnership relationships which bring them together for a long time since they both play a joint role in securing the UAE’s entries, simplifying passage of visitors and passengers and fostering Dubai’s status being the favorite destination for many residents and travellers. Consequent to the MoU, over four million passengers are anticipated to benefit from using the Airport on a monthly basis in addition to the land and sea passengers.
H.E. Ahmed Butti confirmed that the MoU entails exchanging training courses and granting the opportunity to each side to take part in them since Customs gives much attention to training and developing qualifications and considers them major tools for efficient improvement and preparation of the highly qualified and competent inspectors and employees who are able to implement best knowledge and customs practices in order to maintain security of the society and execute the training and development policy issued by Dubai Government Executive Council.
H.E. Ahmed Butti further noted:" Dubai Customs created strategic and executive teams to support and strengthen the relationships it has with its partners in order to achieve Dubai Government strategic vision. Therefore, the MoU was in place to crown the cooperation we enjoy with DNRD. We hope this memorandum could enhance and exchange corporate knowledge and expertise as well as the community’s activities to benefit the society as a whole.”

It is worth mentioning that the strategic partnership team Dubai Customs recently created in cooperation with the government departments in Dubai aims to facilitate procedures, enhance security, exchange information and combat prohibited and counterfeit goods and items.
