UK Ideas awarded Dubai Customs Platinum Category for their efficient SRS for the second consecutive year as the first government department of its kind to earn such accreditation worldwide.
The platinum category is the highest level of classification within the British Association accredited only to two agencies worldwide of which Dubai Customs is one.
This high accreditation is the fruit of the unified suggestion system of Dubai Government which was launched by Crown Prince, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. His highness said that day that directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai always focus on involving everyone in the development process and inviting all government employees in Dubai to seize opportunities and develop them in order to realize sustainability in all walks of life in Dubai.
Commenting on this high accreditation, HE Abdul Rahman Al Shaibani, Secretary General of Dubai Executive Council said : “ we extend our deepest congratulations to Crown Prince, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council for his directives that led to the launch this winning system. We would like also to congratulate Dubai Customs for winning this high accreditation which indicates the efficiency of Dubai unified suggestion system and its positive outcomes in serving Dubai Government. Dubai Customs has been keen together with other departments in implementing the unified suggestion system which is a professional and documented approach of dealing with suggestions efficiently and helps in fostering integration between government departments and encouraging innovation and innovative ideas to maintain a distinctive and sustainable Dubai. We are confident that the government efforts will not stop at this point; rather, they would go on for further development and ideas.
HE Ahmed Butti Ahmed, the Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation and Director General of Dubai Customs stated that the accreditation of SRS Platinum category reflects Dubai Customs` keenness on dealing with suggestions effectively and efficiently utilizing them for improving the organizational performance, creating spirit of effective communication and realizing material and moral turnout.
Mr. Butti pointed out that Dubai Customs has generated financial proceeds exceeding AED 108 Million from SRS application since 2004 until the end of October last year, a figure does not include SRS accumulated revenues restricting only to the first year`s revenue resulting from the application of each suggestion.
“Such higher level accreditation is an achievement for Dubai Government Unified Suggestion System launched on 16 May this year. Dubai Customs was the first government department that started with implementing the system”, he added.
Mr. Butti maintained that the achievement of SRS higher level accreditation underlines the wise and clear-headed vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai who stresses on the necessity of achieving government excellence and consolidating its culture quoting HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid as saying “Excellence and creativity is a culture that must prevail in our society including all its institutions, segments and individuals because we have assumed leadership in everything”.
“Dubai Customs, which used to record quantum leaps in leadership and excellence including many other areas, is keen on maintaining its advanced international position in SRS it achieved and promoting SRS to higher rates over the upcoming period”, he affirmed.
The Platinum Accreditation is awarded in accordance with over 80 adopted standards including scoring over 90% competency rate of the suggestion system as well as other legislative and financial facets such as the system’s procedures and laws, compatibility and compliance with the corporate organizational structure, meeting objectives, communication and interaction (raising awareness), rewards and incentives, KPIs, system’s efficiency, information management, employees’ training and continuous development of the system.
From her part, Ms. Feryal Tawkul, the Executive Director of the Community Affairs and Government Partnership Division said that Dubai Customs would strive to intensify awareness campaigns among customers in order to motivate them for participation and interaction with the unified suggestion system pointing out that the number of suggestions received by Dubai Customs over the period from 2004 until the end of October this year accounted for 6877 suggestions.
