Dubai Customs bagged three out of five main Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Smart Government categories it qualified for. The annual award ceremony of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Smart Government was held Tuesday, December 9, 2014, in the World Trade Centre Arena, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.
The HbMSG award categories granted for Dubai Customs include Best Service Center Manager for Ibrahim Al Kamali, Dubai Customs’ Airport Operations Director at DXB Terminal 3, Best Internal Cooperation for the online Vehicle Clearance Certificate (VCC) initiative, and Best Partnership with the Private Sector for the Customs Clearance initiative between Dubai Customs and DP World.
The online VCC initiative provides a single window for customers whereby they can automatically apply for vehicle clearance certificate (VCC) around the clock through Dubai Trade portal or via smart services on mobile devices. Customers can also track the progress of their application, pay the fees online and verify previously issued VCCs and related declarations.
The Customs Clearance Initiative is an online integration between Dubai Customs and DP World. The integrated system is meant to facilitate the exchange of information on the valuation of cargo that is subject to inspection, significantly reducing the frequency of client on-site visits. The system also notifies customers instantly with an email on the status of their cargo at every clearance phase.
On the heels of the awarding ceremony, His Excellency Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, saluted Dubai Customs’ staff upon winning the three HbMSG awards and commended on their diligence and industriousness at work, which led to winning the coveted awards.
