Under the frame of the ongoing support provided by Dubai Customs to its clients, and in order to ensure time-efficient and effort-free application processing and delivery, a joint cooperation agreement was signed between Dubai Customs and ZAJEL Courier Services for the provision of express delivery of customs documents.
The Agreement was signed at the headquarters of Dubai Customs, by Mr. Yousef Al Sahlawi, Senior Executive Director of Corporate Affairs, Dubai Customs and from ZAJEL, Mr. Thani Abdullah Alzaffin, Director General & Board Member, in the presence of Khawla Kabanji, acting CEO, and other Dubai Customs’ executives.
“We are pleased to offer the express delivery of customs documents service to Dubai Customs’ clients, it aims at saving their time and effort,” announced Mr. Al Sahlawi. He further expounded upon the significance of the express delivery for Dubai Customs. “After all, our services are made available through mobile phone, in line with the Smart Government initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as through Dubai Customs and Dubai Trade websites - this new service is intended to enable clients to send original documents using express mail service without the need to visit customs centers. This adds an excellent advantage to our distinguished customs services regionally and internationally. These excellent and fast services provided to traders and investors, and the facilities offered by the emirate, are key factors to making Dubai a major commercial attraction.
Moreover, the express delivery service ensures the delivery and receipt of original customs documents which cannot be exchanged electronically.
According to a study by Dubai Customs on why clients still frequently visit customs centers despite the provision of e-Services, it was found that Dubai Customs receives documents pertaining to as much as 17 thousand transactions every day, of which 13 thousand are customs clearance requests and 3,500 claims and duty-collection applications. This means that delivery and receipt of documents via courier service would definitely reduce customs centers’ overload and crowding, thus allowing centers to improve and deliver faster services, in addition to ensuring clients time-efficient and effortless services.
Dubai Customs has been working to employ IT applications on a large scale in providing services to its clients, not only in terms of offering e-Services, but by adopting the use of technology across all processes as well. This approach surely secures optimal customs performance levels and contributes to the facilitation of trade on the one hand, and on the other hand, guarantees that Dubai Customs fully undertakes its role as the first line of defense that safeguards the community’s economy, wellbeing, and security.
“We are honoured to support Dubai Customs’ vision, operations and services that enhances Dubai’s competitive edge in the region”, Thani Alzaffin, Director General and Board Member of emaratech said during the signing ceremony.
Khawla Kabanji, CEO of Zajel also expressed her full support to Dubai Customs saying: “We are proud to be supporting Dubai Customs through express delivery services”.
“We currently provide courier services to many government agencies allowing them to reduce the number of visitors and visits to their locations. Our services save time and ensures efficiency for government agencies while it saves time and energy for individuals as they no longer have to wait until their applications are processed”, Khawla concluded.
Zajel services play an important role in completing operations for many of the government and private sectors that are not completed without efficient, effective and express courier services.
