Dubai automotive spare parts trade worth AED 37 billion

Dubai succeeded in attracting auto spare parts trade to become a regional and international hub for such trade by virtue of the major facilitations delivered to dealers and investors at all Dubai`s customs ports together with the logistic services that support auto spare parts at storage and transport operations level.

The statistics produced by Dubai Customs in conjunction with Automechanika Exhibition being hosted by Dubai from 11 to 13 June , showed that Dubai’s auto spare parts foreign trade worth AED 37 bn in 2012 with an increase of AED 8 bn as compared to AED 29 bn in 2009.

The auto spare parts continued to rise reaching AED 32 bn in 2010 and AED 36 bn in 2011.

The export and re-export activities take up the major share of Dubai`s auto spare parts and accessories in foreign trade.

The re-exportations to foreign markets from a total of imports worth AED 22 bn in 2012, were in the value of AED 15 bn representing about 68% of the total imports.

Japan is deemed to be Dubai`s top trade partner in respect to auto spare parts and accessories claiming 28%  of imports market share with a value of AED 6.1 bn, followed by China with a share of 13% equivalent to AED 2.8 bn, then South Korea having  a share of 11% in the value of AED 2.3 bn.

These make the share of the three major Dubai`s partners reaching 51% of the total imports.

At the export and re-export level, Saudi Arabia topped the list with a share amounting to 11% equivalent to AED 1.6 bn, followed by Afghanistan in the second place with a share of 5% worth AED 800 million, then Sultanate of Oman having a share of 4% representing a value of AED 700 million.

These make the share of Dubai`s export and re-export three major partners accounting for 20%.

The statistics show that Dubai plays a key role in linking between countries of exportation and importation of auto spare parts and accessories together with the significance of UAE markets for auto spare parts, which import the greater percentage of their imports via Dubai.

Dubai succeeded in developing such trade through the advanced infrastructure and delivery of all facilitations as to make it successful.
