Dubai Customs is going on with its iftar meal project up to the end of the Holy Month. The project includes distribution of 18,000 bags of iftar (5,000 iftar bags to people in different areas throughout Dubai and other 13,000 bags to people in Dubai Int’l Airport terminals.
Distributing Iftar meal in Mosques
Mrs Feryal Tawakul, Executive Director of Community Affairs and Government Partnership at Dubai Customs said that this project comes within Dubai Customs social initiatives throughout the holy month towards enhancing social solidarity and integration, not only amongst the Emiratis but also amongst the expatriates in general. “It is also a step towards reviving the holy prophetic way (sunna) which motivates Muslim community to contribute food iftar for gaining great rewards from Allah”.
Mrs Feryal explained that the distribution of the Iftar bags is considered one of the social initiatives that Dubai Customs every year performed during this holy month in which many male and female volunteers in Dubai Customs distribute these bags in their vicinities throughout Dubai. 5.000 bags so far have been distributed in these areas and 13,000 have been distributed in Dubai Int’l Airport, she said.
Within its framework of social accountability, which it considers as a pillar of success in achieving community satisfaction and interaction with its delivered activities and proposals, Dubai Customs always seeks to carry out such initiatives that help in reviving profound divine principles during this month, she added.
A number of Dubai Customs inspectors distributing the Iftar bags for the passenger
In Airport halls of Dubai Int’l Airport, Dubai Customs inspectors also help in distributing the Iftar bags and Sahour supper to the arriving passengers. Mr Ali Al Maghawi, Senior Director of Passenger Operation Administration at Dubai Customs said: “Dubai Customs’ inspectors distribute the Iftar bags to passengers at sunset time (fast breaking time), and at late night (sohour time). This doesn’t prevent them from working hard to finalise passengers’ other travel procedures.
More than 13,000 Iftar bags so far have been distributed to the arrivals. 280 bags are daily distributed at Airport (T1), 140 bags at Airport (T2) and 280 bags at Airport (T3). Iftar meal initiative at Airport is appreciated by the passengers who arrive from different corners of the world. Many of them have expressed their satisfaction with the project which reflects Dubai Customs’ keenness to provide comfortable surrounding for the passengers.
The Iftar meal is one of a series of initiatives that Dubai Customs keeps on doing during the holy month of Ramadan. Other initiatives include Islamic lectures, Ramadan Contests (whose winners receive return Air tickets from “Nass Airlines” for Ummrah), and donation Campaign which runs in cooperation with charitable agencies to help the needy and destitute people in the UAE and abroad.
