Dubai Customs foils bid to smuggle hashish Captagon and live ammo

Dubai Customs inspectors foiled a bid to smuggle over 6 kg of hashish and around 800 pills of Captagon narcotics plus 4 bullets, all of which were hidden inside a vehicle driven by a GCC person accompanied by somebody else who were entering through Hatta Boarder Entry into Dubai.
Mr. Mohammed Musabih Al Dhahi, Senior Manager of Land Cargo Operations said that inspectors of Customs Hatta Boarder Center suspected the driver of the vehicle and his accompany while being stopped to perform the routine inspection. The two looked frisky and the inspectors were able to find 4 bullets of live ammunition hidden in the ashtray.

Mr. Dhahi further noted that the intensive inspection resulted in finding a plastic heat resistant bag used for coffee packaging which was hidden inside the car’s engine. On searching the bag, six huge plastic bags were found inside filled with a murky substance which weighed around 6.2 kg and resembled hashish. Furthermore, around 800 pills of Captagon narcotics were also hidden inside the engine’s filter cunningly in addition to a haul of powder amount of this contraband weighing 16.55 gram.

Mr. Dhahi stressed that safeguarding the society from the epidemic of the hazardous and prohibited substances is a top priority and a key role at Dubai Customs. In order to play this role to the utmost, the Department is keen on employing highly-qualified and security-alerted expertise who are well aware of the different twisted smuggling techniques. These experiences are boosted by introducing a group of workshops and training courses on inspection methods and how to uncover narcotics and illegal items. Adding to that, the Department offers courses in body language techniques which enable them to decipher humans’ spontaneous behavior.
Mr. Musabih added that the passengers along with the seizure report and the contrabands were transferred to the General Department of the Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police to take the necessary action against them.
