Launching Inter-Schools Contest Trophy Program of "Dubai Customs IPR Award" for the Academic Year 2009 -2010

In a workshop held in the Judicial Institute in Dubai that combined representatives from Dubai Customs and Ministry of Education, the organizing Committee for Contest, under the sponsorship of Dubai Customs and in coordination with Ministry of Education, launched, On Tuesday, December 29th 2009, the fourth contest events for "Dubai Customs IPR Award" which is organized at the level of entirely inter– competitive schools thorough-out UAE for the closing Academic Year 2009- 2010. The organizing combined Committee of representatives jointly discussed ways and means for ensuring the Prize requirements, actions and scheduled timings.   
The competition is open to all elementary schools thorough-out UAE, preliminary and secondary level students. Each participant school is to submit it's working-paper in relation to the protection of Intellectual Property Rights, this contest must challenge various targets: such as in-originating loyalty, national responsibilities, encouraging readiness of volunteerism amongst students of both governmental and private schools, educating national identity, developing leadership skill, inspiring cooperation amongst students and teachers, supporting orientation and guidance in areas of Intellectual Property Rights, creativity, protecting community from commercial and industrial fraud and theft of the creative ideas and patent and contribution of students in detecting fraudulent materials and telling families about the consequences if using these untrue materials.         
Each participant school shall compete with a work team of 15 students along with tow supervisors to lay- out the annual program targeting the aforementioned thematic activities that can be carried out in accordance with a plan actively setting out events like organizing field visits to places e.g. markets, industries and stores, and IPR awareness workshops campaign with aim to involve participation of students, parents and the community.
Participating schools in the competition will get AED6000 from Dubai Customs to help schools in planning out their programs, and by the mid of the year, the Committee shall announce the results of the contesters and value prizes will be awarded to the top three outstanding team.  
 
 Mr. Yousif Aziz Mubarak, Director of Intellectual Property Rights Dept, says: The Inter – School Creativity Contest is targeted towards strengthening the comprehensive awareness at all level, especially, in respect of educating coming-up generations and reiterating commitment to protecting the intellectual property rights in their respective community, ensuring the importance of effectively supporting rights to protect legal trades activities inside the State, and maintain security of the society and the health & safety of it’s members from counterfeit and fake goods.    
 
Mr. Yousif praised the bilateral cooperation between Dubai Customs and Ministry of Education in managing student activities, and he said that “this contest which is launched in its fourth ceremony has   come fruitfully as a result of the continual cooperation between Dubai Customs and Ministry of Education for the past 15 years. The Students Activities Dept in the Ministry provides and supports good environment and factors for successfully carrying out this annual contest”.
The Contest Organizing Committee with memberships of Aziz Mubarak, Mahbooba Bagr – Customs Awareness and Education Sec Manager, Dr. Nadia Mohammad Ali Fwaz – from Ministry of Education, have announced the names of participant schools for the year and these schools are:  
From Dubai: Sakina Bint Al Hussain School, from Sharjah Umm Ammar For secondary Education, Arab Gulf for Secondary Education and Ahmed Bin Hambal Schools. From Fujairah: Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sgarqi, Masa for basic Education, Al Raheeb for secondary Education and Umm Al Olla for basic Education. From Ras Al Khaima: Al Mataf for basic Education, Al Asmaa Bint Al Harith for basic and secondary Education, Qabaa for basic Education and Noora Bint Sultan for secondary Education. From Ajman: Al Hikma Private School. From western Region: Qatar Al Nada for secondary Education.
