As part of its corporate social responsibility and affirming the importance of blood donation as a noble act and humanitarian initiative, Dubai Customs organized a major blood donation under the theme “Give Blood… gift life” covering 4 customs centers.
The campaign launched in collaboration with Dubai Health Authority and organized by the Blood Donation Center at Al Wasl Hospital in cooperation with the Emirates Association for Thalassemia and Thalassemia Center and under the supervision of the Community Affairs and Government Partnership Division, took place at Jebel Ali Customs Center, Port Rashid, and the Customs Passengers Operations Management Office at Dubai Customs International Airport. The average number of donators reached 369 persons (116 liter of blood unit).
The campaign was well received by employees and inspectors at Dubai Customs headquarters and Jebel Ali Customs Center with the excessive participation of clients who happened to be present in those two centers and rushed to donate blood responding to the campaign’s goals and willing to support all means of communication with the society and provide every possible human help.
The campaign which was hosted by the Customs Passengers Operations Management Office at Dubai Customs for two consecutive days was also greatly welcomed by the sections and divisions’ managers and employees as well as the government organizations and Dubai Customs’ partner companies at the airport mainly Dubai Police, the Naturalization and Residency Department, Dubai Airports, Dnata and airlines companies. The partners expressed their satisfaction with the campaign which provides healthcare, serves humanity and offers blood donation.
From her side, Mrs. Feryal Tawakul, Executive Director of Community Affairs and Government Partnership Division commented on the campaign saying: “Dubai Customs strives to adopt social initiatives which reflect Customs values and mission and stem from its strategic goals and plans. This campaign was inline with Dubai Customs social responsibility towards Thalassemia patients who represent an important part of the society.
