Mirsal 2 well-received regionally and internationally

Dubai- A number of regional and international Customs Directors commended the Customs Clearance E-System; Mirsal 2 which was recently launched by Dubai Customs. The system is considered best customs practice internationally since it contributes to completing customs transactions more quickly, efficiently and safely, besides its great role in anchoring economic growth and facilitating legitimate trade movement.
Customs officials across the world have extended their greetings to Dubai Customs for this successful achievement of developing and launching the advanced Customs Declarations System, Mirsal 2.
Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, World Customs Organization (WCO) Secretary General expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai who has continued to support the endeavors of the Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation, in particular those of Dubai Customs.
Mr. Mikuriya also commended HH Sheikh Mohammed’s directives towards an e-powered government which is aimed at furthering service delivery standards. He said that these noble efforts contributed much to the success of Mirsal 2 System; a collective achievement that is recognized and appreciated by all.
 
He pointed out that using technology to enhance customs operations and ensure more effective border management is essential to enable customs administrations to cope with the stresses and strains of the international trade environment in the 21st century.
“As countries around the world nurture their economies in the aftermath of the global financial crisis, it is now even more necessary for them to do all they can to encourage trade flows and inward investment through increased trade facilitation in particular; recognized by global players, including the G20” he stated.
Mr. Mikuriya confirmed that Dubai has undertaken an ambitious reform and modernization program and has underpinned its efforts by developing its instruments and mechanisms to comply with international standards to ensure that the country is firmly placed within the framework of global security and facilitation best practices.
Mr. Mikuriya believes that Mirsal 2 will allow Dubai Customs to continue to take advantage of international trading and investment opportunities, in addition to ensuring that it retains its status as a forward-thinking administration and a valuable regional partner.
“As more and more customs administrations implement modern IT systems and solutions, the WCO’s vision of a “globally networked customs” becomes more tangible.” He further noted.
Mr. Hans Joachim Stahr, Germany Customs Director General stressed that Dubai Customs has managed to take its business to the next level due to Mirsal 2 success inline with a clear future vision. He added that this helps Dubai in positioning itself as a trade hub in the Middle East.
Mr. Stahr also commended the trade relations which joins Germany with the UAE confirming that the UAE in general and Dubai in Particular are considered the most significant trade partner for Germany in the Arab world. Therefore, Mirsal 2 will further facilitate trade exchange between the two countries.
“The increasing volume of international cross-border trade flow and the active movement of goods and products and the rapid development of exchanging information electronically pose new and constant challenges for the customs administrations as they remain committed to providing a more flexible method of goods clearance. At the same time, introducing a fair Customs duty collection system and achieving the countries’ visions towards efficient protection of the society from harmful and counterfeited goods as well as ensuring the national economic growth are vital responsibilities which cannot be achieved without a distinguished Customs E-System such as Mirsal 2.” He added.
Brigade Basim Yacob Al Hamer, Bahrain Customs President also congratulated Dubai Customs for launching Mirsal 2 which is a source of pride for all the GCC countries as it places Dubai Customs among the other departments which adopt top customs practices regionally and worldwide.
Mr. Ahmed Al Mahindi, Qatar Customs Director General extended his greetings to Dubai Customs on the occasion of Mirsal 2 launching and wished the Department more success and prosperity in implementing this new Customs E-system which facilitates completing customs procedures for the traders and contributes to the growth of trade exchange.
