A press conference was held yesterday, Monday morning to learn about the Six-a-Side Football Tournament which will be organized by Dubai Customs and under the sponsorship of Sharaf DG Company, from 15th to 26th August 2010, during the first twenty days of the Holy month of Ramadan in Almezhar Sports Hall in Dubai.
Mr. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih –Head of Sports Committee – Director of Client Management Division said: “the organization of this tournament for its second year comes inline with Dubai Customs keenness of enhancing cooperative and fraternal relationships amongst the employees irrespective to their grades and inline with the organization of such events that show the attention given to the employees, ensuring increase of their satisfaction, boosting loyalty and adherence to the Dept especially after the success this Tournament scored last year.
Mr. Musabih said that the participating teams of this Tournament are 24 teams representing different departments; each team is comprised of 6 playground players, 3 reserved players and one administrator. The team will be divided into 8 groups inter-competing in the preliminary matches and from each group, the first and the second teams will be qualified to compete in the last 16 round. Every day, there will be 4 matches – each match lasts for 35 minutes – 15mints for each half and 5mints break between the two halves.
Mr. Musabih pointed out that there will be prizes for the first three winning teams besides the tournament’s cup for the best player, the best goal keeper, the player with the most goals and the clean performance cup. Furthermore, there will be daily prizes to be taken on the entry tickets such as TVs, mobile phones, perfumes and watches.
Mr. Yaser Sharaf, Director General of Sharaf DG and the sponsor of the tournament said during the media conference:" One of the most important objectives of our company is to be pioneering in reinforcing social interaction through participating in and supporting charitable and social activities. Our sponsorship of this tournament comes as part of our realization of the sports significance in enhancing capabilities and drawing the competitors closer together in a friendly and fair atmosphere as we seek to be at the top. Such policy is inline with seeking consistently to be the best in the business market.”
At the end of the press conference, Dubai Customs thanked Sharaf DG Co for sponsoring the championship while Mr. Mahboob assured that such sponsorship comes as part of the company keenness on assuming the social responsibility and contributing to the different activities and events in Dubai wishing a successful championship being held within Ramadan atmosphere and fair competition and play.
