Dubai Customs celebrated recently the graduation of 36 customs inspectors who completed the 16th Basic Training Course in Dubai Police Academy.
The ceremony took place at Dubai Police Academy in the presence of Mr. Fahed Bin Fahed Al Muhairi, Executive Director of HR, Finance and Admin Division and Brigadier Doctor Ahmed Eid Al Mansoori, Act Director of Dubai Police Academy as well as Mr. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Executive Director of Client Management Division and Act Executive Director of Customs Cargo Operations Division and Mr. Khalifa Abu Jamhoor, Manager of Human Resources Department.
This course comes as part of a comprehensive training program Dubai Customs adopts in cooperation with the General Department of Dubai Police to develop its inspectors’ capabilities and further their skills and potentials inline with Customs objectives towards being the leading customs administration in the world and its mission in protecting the community and supporting economic development through compliance and facilitation.
The ceremony included a number of shows such as assembling weapons, martial art and strength skills which customs inspectors are trained on to reinforce their abilities in performing customs-related tasks. The program included as well educational sessions on patriotism and corporate loyalty, Customs Unified Law, customs investigation techniques, how to use x-ray machines and how to handle dangerous and prohibited items.
During the ceremony, the distinguished graduates were handed prizes, among these were: Inspector Mohammed Hanif Bakhsh who was the first in total, Inspector Khalfan Abdulla Al Thaheri and Inspector Mostafa Mohammed Ali who were also the first in total, , Inspector Mohammed Jasim Mohammed who was the first in the military training, Inspector Suood Al Hindas who was the first in archery and Inspector Abdulla Abbas Abdul Aziz who was the first in discipline and persistence.
Moreover, the course included lessons on safety and security, first aid, counterfeiting, developing national interest, inspecting people, luggage, gold and metals, intellectual property rights, dealing with diplomats, quality service delivery skills, fitness exercises, self-defense, archery and handling weaponry.
Mr. Fahed Al Muhairi stressed that Dubai Customs is keen on introducing high quality training programs to its inspectors since they play a major role in fostering their skills and furthering their proficiency at work. He pointed out that these courses are held consistently and for many years in cooperation with Dubai Police Academy as they help them in developing their personal and practical potentials especially when they are considered at the forefront of Dubai and its watchful eye providing protections to its entries.
It is worth mentioning that Dubai Customs and the General Department of Dubai Police signed a memorandum of understanding in December 2009 to reinforce mutual cooperation between both sides in the field of training human resources. This is in alignment with the UAE strategic plan and Dubai Government in the training domain as both sides seek to qualify the human cadres and equip them with the necessary skills through exchanging expertise and theoretical and practical knowledge and believing in increasing humans’ proficiency and job performance efficiency.
