Dubai Customs and Al Tayer Group inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today Sunday 17 October 2010 about using the most recent initiative launched by Dubai Customs for the clients in the field of e-transactions; Business To Government (B2G) channel.
The MOU is a culmination of the agreement made last March between the two parties allowing Al Tayer Group to have direct online communication with Mirsal 2 for easy and simple customs transactional processing by entering their shipment declarations for one time only into their internal technical system and then automatically transferred to Mirsal 2 of Dubai Customs.
The MoU coincides with the kick off of GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2010 events on its first day. The signing took place at Dubai World Trade Center where GITEX, the most significant IT event in the region, is held. Mr. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Executive Director of Client Management Division at Dubai Customs signed the MoU on behalf of Dubai Customs and Mr. Khalid ِAhmed Al Tayer represented Al Tayer Group in signing it.
Mr. Musabih said that the MoU sets up the framework of bilateral cooperation between Dubai Customs and Al Tayer Group and allowing the Group to submit their customs declarations through Mirsal 2 System and B2G channel which introduces several benefits and advantages; including time, effort and costs saving as well as confidentiality of information.
Mr. Musabih added that B2G is considered an application within Mirsal 2 system which was developed and launched by Customs last March for all its clients last March serving companies of large volume of customs transactions providing swift transactional processing. According to B2G clients would enter such declarations for one time only into their internal system and then automatically – once completed – transferred to Mirsal 2 enhancing the advantage of saving time, effort and cost.
“Launching B2G initiative comes as part of the Department’s continuous development of the e-services provided to the clients and inline with the corporate directives towards completing customs declarations electronically.” He said.
Both Dubai Customs and the clients can enjoy numerous benefits resulting from B2G implementation such as transferring their declarations automatically from their systems to Mirsal 2 system and processing their transactions and payments electronically, directly and easily on a 24/7 hour basis. This entails additional advantages including reducing human errors, generating automated notifications from-to Customs, clearing customs declarations quickly, eliminating the need of frequent visits to Customs counters so as to submit customs declarations, utmost use of time for the main business tasks, reducing costs of customs declarations, introducing a paperless service, receiving instant notifications about the status of the customs declarations and better employment of HR by making use of counters’ staff in performing other tasks.
Mr. Al Tayer congratulated Dubai Customs for their continuous efforts to adopt the best international technologies and simplify processes to assist businesses. He said:" Al Tayer Group is pleased to join B2G initiative. We believe that this service will enhance efficiency in our logistics supply chain. B2G helps simplify procedures significantly and enables us to track and trace submitted declarations.
He further noted:" We have successfully completed structuring and linking our IT systems to B2G and Mirsal 2 system with the help of Dubai Customs. Mirsal 2 has already allowed us to pre-clear our goods and cargos electronically even before their arrival to Dubai, greatly adding to process efficiency.
