The marketing exhibition for the female orphans of Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) commenced at Dubai Cargo Village on Tuesday, October 26th, 2010. The exhibition is held by the Air Cargo Operations Department in coordination with the Community Affairs and Government Partnership Division at Dubai Customs from October 26th to 28th, 2010.
The hosting of the exhibition comes as part of Dubai Customs keenness to maintain social responsibility and community service towards all segments and categories of the society. This comes as part of Customs corporate values and inline with consolidating cooperation with charitable organizations and authorities in the UAE.
The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Sultan Al Joker, Advisor to H.E. the Director General of Dubai Customs, Mr. Omar Al Muhairy, Senior Manager of Air Cargo Operations Department, Mrs. Hessa Ahmed, SSEF Media Official and representatives of the government departments working within the Cargo Village.
The exhibition displays material products made by the girls of SSEF such as covers, small prayer carpets, full sets of accessories used in the Arabian Majlis and many handicraft products. All the proceeds of the exhibition go to the SSEF girls.
The exhibition attracted buyers from Dubai Customs staff and officials at the Cargo Village and the strategic partners working there. It included as well a number of other activities conducted for the girls; for instance, watching a film about Dubai Customs and taking the girls into a field tour at the Cargo Village Inspection Center where they were introduced to the goods inspection techniques and customs clearance procedures.
Mr. Al Joker welcomed the SSEF girls and expressed his admiration of the high quality products they make. He said that Dubai Customs supports such social activities and highlighted that this is the Department’s responsibility towards the local community and its different segments.

The displayed products are well- received

Mr. Al Muhairy said:" The exhibition aims to support and assist the orphans by empowering them professionally and economically through showcasing their products and finding an appropriate location for marketing and selling their products. Since the proceeds of the exhibition will entirely go to the girls, this helps integrate them in the community and qualify them for entering the different business domains.”
Mr Al Muhairy added:" We are very proud of the girls’ products. SSEF is considered a distinguished charitable organization in the UAE and bears a noble mission towards the orphans. It is our job to provide them with all the support and aid they need as they are an integrative part of the community. Therefore, we will continue to cooperate with SSEF in other future activities.”
Mrs. Mona Bin Hadda Al Suwaidy, Director of SSEF expressed her appreciation to Dubai Customs for the initiative of hosting the exhibition and the hospitality they received from Customs and for supporting them and their products. She stressed that this is one of the best exhibitions organized by SSEF in government and private organizations.
Mrs. Al Suwaidy noted that the Foundation currently sponsors 1900 orphans, who lost their fathers, of different nationalities and ages, from childhood until marriage or having a career of their own. It also provides them with different kinds of support; physical, professional and educational as well as accommodation. The aid it provides to the orphan’s guardian helps minimize the heavy financial loads of life and it receives aid from government and business authorities besides charitable donations made by the public.

The exhibition excels in the high quality products made by Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation girls

The Foundation is keen on being present at the vital locations in the UAE which opens a wide window of opportunities to the orphans in order to help them prove their efficient role in the society so that they can contribute to its development.
Mrs. Al Suwaidy pointed out that SSEF has a workshop with sewing and embroidery machines and other materials the girls need to design their products, which comes as part of the fundamental objective of the Foundation towards enabling them to become productive and competent individuals.
As for the girls, they have also expressed their satisfaction and joy towards the much hospitality they received from the Air Cargo Operations Department giving them and their products much attention.
