Dubai Customs allocates gates to receiving pilgrims and accelerating their inspection procedures

Dubai Customs inspectors are ready to receive the pilgrims at Dubai Int’l Airport.

Dubai Customs completed its preparations for Al Hajj season this year. A number of teams were created at the Airport to facilitate pilgrims’ journey, in addition to allocating gates for receiving them and speeding up their inspection procedures.

In coordination with the inspectors’ staff, Dubai Customs created specialized teams in completing all the necessary procedures and arrangements and setting work mechanisms which help facilitate the procedures of pilgrims’ easy passage.

 

Special attention given to the elderly
 
The Department allocated special gates for receiving pilgrims and equipped them with the required inspection tools which guarantee simplifying and accelerating the inspection process. Moreover, a number of teams were set to assist the pilgrims especially the elderly to simplify their procedures and eliminate any obstacle. These teams comprise of the inspectors who are assigned to welcome and guide the pilgrims to their gates so that they can avoid any delay. Dubai Customs is also to be present at these gates once they complete their pilgrimage and head back to the UAE to welcome them back with tokens.

Mr. Ali Al Mugahwi, Director of Airport Operations at Dubai Customs confirmed that Dubai Customs is a member of the Higher Committee for Hajj which includes a group of strategic partners and the departments operating within Dubai Airport and is always keen on providing all the necessary facilitations to the pilgrims. This committee holds several meetings to look into the preparations made by the authorities operating at the Airport to simplify pilgrims’ movement whether departing from the UAE to the holy lands or transiting through the Airport who come from other countries as well as those who arrive at the Airport after completing Hajj rituals.

According to the statistics of Dubai Airport, there are 97 flights for pilgrims this year starting from Dubai Int’l Airport and transporting a total of 31285 pilgrims. 79 flights of which are through Fly Emirates airline- including the transit flights- and are carrying a total of 25017 pilgrims. There are also 18 flights on Saudi Airlines which transport 6268 pilgrims. Besides, all flights will proceed from and carried out through Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.
