Dubai Customs gears up to welcome returning Hajj pilgrims
Dubai Customs has announced comprehensive preparations to receive pilgrims returning from the holy sites, introducing a range of special measures aimed at ensuring smooth and efficient processing through Dubai’s airports. These efforts are designed to enhance traveller satisfaction and ease their arrival experience.
To facilitate the process, a dedicated fast-track lane has been set up in the hand baggage inspection area, aligned with counters of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, allowing for quick clearance of pilgrims. Each terminal at Dubai International Airport has been assigned a designated baggage belt for pilgrims’ luggage, located near exit gates to speed up their movement through the arrival’s hall. Exclusive exit gates have also been allocated to separate pilgrims from other travellers’ during customs inspection.
Dubai Customs has coordinated with the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services to ensure a paramedic is available in the customs arrivals area in case of any medical issues.
Khalid Ahmed, Director of Passenger Operations at Dubai Customs, stated:
“We’ve established seamless coordination with our strategic partners to welcome pilgrims home. A dedicated action plan has been put in place to provide the highest level of comfort, including the formation of a committee to oversee inspection teams and manage the process efficiently.”
He noted that Dubai Customs participated in planning meetings at Dubai Airports to align preparations across all stakeholders and ensure smooth operations.
Around-the-clock communication between on-duty staff, building managers, and team leads will help quickly resolve any issues. Site visits by management during Eid and other occasions are also part of the oversight process. Additionally, Dubai Customs has arranged hospitality and small welcome gifts for arriving pilgrims.
