"Sawaed Al-Furdah" Ramadan Initiative at Dubai Customs Launches with the Participation of Senior Citizens

The inaugural events of the "Sawaed Al-Furdah" initiative have commenced at Dubai Customs under the supervision of the Ghayath Volunteer Team. This initiative aims to distribute 30,000 Iftar meals to road users, equating to 7,500 meals every Saturday throughout Ramadan. It aligns with the government department's commitment to enhancing its societal role during this holy month by launching activities targeting various segments of society, supporting Dubai Customs' strategic plan for social responsibility.

The event took place near the Union Museum traffic signals and involved the participation of senior citizens from the Dhukr Club, along with Rashid Obeid Al Sharid, Executive Director, Finance Affairs & Administration Division, Ghayath Volunteer Team and students from the Higher Colleges of Technology, supported by Dubai Police patrols. This year marked the first participation of senior citizens in the initiative, emphasizing their ongoing role in community support and sustainable development in the UAE. The event concluded with a collective Iftar to foster familial bonds.

Al Sharid commended the efforts of the Ghayath Volunteer Team and the Department's Corporate Social Responsibility Team for their annual implementation of qualitative and sustainable initiatives. He noted the significance of the "Sawaed Al Furdah" initiative, which has been distributing Iftar meals to road users annually for the past six years before the Maghrib call to prayer.

He also thanked the senior citizens for their support of Dubai Customs' community initiatives during Ramadan. Fouad Al Shihi, Head of the Ghayath Volunteer Team at Dubai Customs, emphasized Dubai Customs' commitment to engaging with senior citizens through community initiatives, highlighting the positive impact on their participation in this initiative and Dubai Customs' ongoing efforts to support volunteer and community work.
