Dubai Customs seized two shipments of Drugs in children’s particles

Marihuana seized between children’s diapers

Dubai Customs inspectors at Dubai Cargo Village recently foiled two attempts to smuggle narcotics which was hidden inside children’s particles in two parcels coming from abroad and heading towards their final destinations to an Asian and African countries via Dubai.
 
Mr. Omar Ahmed Al Muhairi, Senior Manager of cargo operations at Dubai Customs learned the incidents details, which resulted in foiling two attempts to smuggle 1.8 kilograms of marihuana plus 268 grams of heroin.

In the first seizure, Dubai Customs Inspectors suspected a postal parcel of children’s diapers, sent from an African country and heading to Asian country through Dubai Cargo Village, as it shows unusual heaviness in the middle of the package during passing it through the x-ray, and it was referred to the manual inspection, were found inside two bags contains dark color of green dry herbs with seeds, it was found after examination as marihuana.
 
The General Administration of Anti-Drug at Dubai Police was informed of the incident, and the seizures were transferred to them. Later on, Dubai Customs noticed that the mission of controlled delivery of the package was executed, and the two people who were trying to receive the packages in the targeted Asian country were arrest.
 
In the second seizure, Dubai Customs Inspectors at Dubai Cargo Village suspected another postal parcel of clothes coming from an Asian country heading to African country, and after passing it through the X-ray; a can was detected hidden in the clothes inside the parcel.

Following the manual inspection, a baby powder can was found hidden in the clothes. Upon taking a sample of its contents, and tested through the mobile system, it turned out to be heroin.
 
The General Administration of Anti-Drug at Dubai Police was informed with the incident of the seizure, and confiscated the parcel.
 
Mr. Omar Ahmed Al Muhairi said that: “The two Incidents reveal the deviation of the drug dealers by using kids items in transporting narcotics, highlighting that they don’t stop inventing new ways to fool Customs Inspectors & concerned security authorities. However, the Inspectors will keep vigilant eyes on them, believing in God and their capabilities, efficiency, experience and skills that acquired through training courses, modern devices and information support provided by Customs Intelligence Department.
