Crafting Empowerment: Dubai Customs Celebrates Emirati Women's Day with Workshops and Inspiration
In honor of Emirati Women's Day, observed on August 28th annually, the Women's Committee at Dubai Customs orchestrated eight informative and hands-on workshops for female employees within the department. The objective was to enhance their proficiency in household organization, carpet weaving, table arrangement, incense crafting, agricultural basics, and the art of decoupage.
The Women's Committee is dedicated to curating educational and enlightening workshops that bolster female employees' awareness of the significance of crafts and manual craftsmanship. These workshops also intend to cultivate their personal skill sets for initiating small-scale projects, yielding positive outcomes in both personal and professional spheres, while simultaneously enhancing their adeptness in navigating diverse challenges.
The celebration featured the participation of Huda Al Matrooshi, an Emirati female mechanic. She delved into her professional role as an automotive mechanic and expert, offering invaluable insights to female employees on effectively addressing car malfunctions.
Mariam Khalifa Al Shamsi, Head of the Women's Committee at Dubai Customs, emphasized the department's commitment to establishing an equitable work environment for women and creating avenues for female employees to channel their creative energies into their work and personal growth. This prepares them to adeptly manage various situations both professionally and personally. She underscored the pivotal role of nurturing a new generation of employees, poised to be a promising elite in the customs sector.
Al Shamsi also underscored Dubai Customs' comprehensive strategy in empowering women within the customs realm. Notably, the department boasts accomplished female employees occupying roles in the field and security domains, such as customs inspectors.
