During his visit to Dubai Customs' inspection sites at Jebel Ali Port, HE Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and Public Security in Dubai, was introduced to the crucial role these sites play in supporting the customs inspection process and facilitating legitimate trade. He gained a firsthand understanding of the inspection procedures, advanced technology, and high standards implemented by Dubai Customs.

During the tour, His Excellency was specifically briefed on the cutting-edge Container Inspection System (GANTRY), which stands out as the world's first and most advanced device capable of detecting radioactive materials. This remarkable system possesses exceptional penetration capabilities, enabling it to accurately determine the contents of vehicles, containers, and heavy equipment, while also effectively identifying illicit substances.





Moreover, His Excellency took the opportunity to visit the inspection platforms where he witnessed the impressive capabilities of units operating under the Customs Inspection Division. He was particularly interested in the Customs Canine Unit (K9) and the Customs Monitoring Unit (SIYAJ), and gained valuable insights into their surveillance, inspection, and detection methods.

This visit highlighted Dubai Customs' unwavering commitment to protecting the community and facilitating legitimate trade by leveraging state-of-the-art technology, efficient procedures, and highly skilled personnel.

During the visit, discussions revolved around the trade volume at Jebel Ali Port, as well as the efforts to combat illicit trade. Dubai Customs emerged as a pioneering force in implementing international best practices in container inspection operations.

His Excellency Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs and CEO of Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, applauded the collective efforts of security agencies and federal authorities for their local and international cooperation. He emphasized that Dubai Customs inspectors serve as the first line of defense at Dubai's entry points, fulfilling their national duty by safeguarding the community through the interception of narcotics, weapons, explosives, counterfeit goods, and restricted items, in compliance with the CITES and Kimberley agreements.

Furthermore, Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director - DP World - UAE & JAFZA, provided insights into the immense scale of legitimate trade and shipping lines witnessed at Jebel Ali Port. As one of the world's key commercial hubs, Jebel Ali Port excels in import and export activities, hosting major international shipping companies and boasting significant container handling capacity.

Concluding the field tour, HE Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim praised Dubai Customs' tangible contributions on both local and international levels. He acknowledged their commitment to their vision of being the world's leading customs administration, supporting legitimate trade while protecting the community and promoting sustainable economic development.
