60 employees of determination at Dubai Customs participate in distributing iftar meals to road users
Dubai Customs organized the “Determined Hands " initiative, the first of its kind, in line with the national policy to empower people of determination and involve them in social activities such as volunteering. The initiative involved the distribution of 2,500 iftar meals to road users and drivers at traffic signals in Rashid Port during the last week, with the collaboration of government entities and departments in Dubai. A total of 175 volunteers participated in this initiative, including 60 government employees of determination, supervised by the Ghayath Volunteer Team and the Dubai Customs People of Determination Committee.
H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs and CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, expressed great appreciation for the initiative. He praised its efforts in raising awareness about the integration and empowerment of individuals with diverse abilities, encouraging their engagement in social and volunteer activities, and creating opportunities for them to participate in the development process and lead active lives within their communities.
He also appreciated the efforts of supporting entities in securing this initiative, including Dubai Police, which provided four security patrols, and the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, which provided a bus and four specialized and equipped vehicles for people of determination.
According to Musabih, people of determination are an essential component of Dubai Customs' work environment and the community as a whole. The government department has included empowering people of determination in its strategic plan. The department remains dedicated to giving significant attention to these individuals by engaging them in various activities and having confidence in their capabilities.
For his part, Fuad Al-Shehhi, the head of the Ghayath Volunteer Team at Dubai Customs - who oversees the initiative - said that the "Determined Hands" initiative has received positive responses from all government departments in Dubai, which confirms the government's efforts to support all people with disabilities in order to integrate them into society. He pointed out that with the end of the distribution of iftar meals for this week, the "Determined Hands" initiative concludes its Ramadan campaign for this year successfully, which included the distribution of 10,000 iftar meals to road users.
