Dubai Customs is all about building bridges and forging strong partnerships. To help achieve this, they recently played host to a delegation from the Ministry of Finance of Kuwait. The delegation stopped by the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government to learn about the latest and greatest in strategic planning and corporate excellence.

They also got a taste of Dubai Customs' innovative initiatives, thanks to the warm welcome and expert guidance of Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communications Department, Shamsa Al-Raisi, Manager of Strategy and Performance Section, Mohammed Rashid Al Mazrouei, Corporate Excellence Expert, Hussein Al Fardan, Senior Manager of Innovation Center, Mohammed Al Maqhoui, Qualtiy Expert and Salama Al Khaya, Government Partnership Officer.

The Strategy and Corporate Excellence Department left no stone unturned, giving the Kuwaiti visitors a full rundown of Dubai Customs' impressive strategic plan for 2021-2026. The plan, which features five key principles, four strategic goals, and nine objectives, is designed to help transfer knowledge, share expertise, and support the wider public good. The delegation also got a behind-the-scenes look at the tools and techniques used to implement the plan, including development plans and progress monitoring via Power BI software. They also explored the role of employees in achieving integration and coordination, and how functional objectives align with the broader strategic vision.

As the visiting delegation was welcomed by Dubai Customs, they were treated to a glimpse of the organization's innovative spirit. Not only were they shown the vital role that Dubai Customs plays in sharing its expertise with related customs authorities, but they also participated in a specialized workshop on global customs indicators, as part of the organization's performance management methodology.

The visit also showcased Dubai Customs' innovation plan and its award-winning initiatives. The delegation learned about the government department's integrated approach to identifying and implementing valuable ideas and innovations, which has resulted in over 50,000 ideas received since the establishment of the suggestion systems and channels. In 2022 alone, Dubai Customs introduced around 171 new innovations, with numerous awards to show for it.

Dubai Customs' commitment to innovation is truly impressive. For the thirteenth consecutive year, the organization achieved the platinum ranking in the British Ideas Organization's classification index, while also winning two prestigious awards for their new invention: the Smart Customs Deterrence and Inspection Drone. These awards included the Second Place Award for Innovation of the Year.
