Dubai Customs bagged two awards from CIPD: Best Digital Innovation in HR, and HR RISING STAR OF THE YEAR in the virtual ceremony held recently by CIPD as part of the CIPD Middle East People Conference & Awards.
H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, Director General of Dubai Customs received the awards from CIPD representatives. The Awards recognise individuals, teams and organisations for their outstanding achievements in people management and development.
“We are proud we have been progressing steadily in implementing our bold strategies to develop our human capital,” said Musabih. “For this we keep abreast with the latest technologies and innovative programs to keep the lead in the customs sector worldwide following the best practices in training and honing the skills of our people.”
Along the same line, Mohammed Al Ghaffari, Executive Director, Human Resources, Finance and Administration Division at Dubai Customs said; “We won the Best Digital Innovation in HR thanks to our distinctive initiative of training Dubai Customs at different ports and officers on best ways of detecting prohibited goods using virtual reality.
The HR RISING STAR OF THE YEAR award went to Ahmed Al Suwaidi, HR Specialist for his brilliant performance and positive influence on the workplace, plus his academic progress as he has recently obtained a master degree in HR from the Canadian University.
On his part, Dominque Peters, Operations Manager at Axiom Telecom and member of the CIPD awards jury said; “Technology plays an essential role in enhancing employees’ experiences, and this is what Dubai Customs has invested in.”
In the same vein, Rami Bayur, MENA Regional Manager of CIPD said; “The UAE is progressing in line with the best international standards. We are proud to have local departments such as Dubai Customs that is leading with disruptive innovations and looking always ahead to develop their human capital further.”
