Dubai Customs and British Customs organize virtual training on intercepting suspect cargos

To enhance cooperation with leading customs organizations and to improve practices, Dubai Customs arranged a training with the British Customs.

The virtual training was conducted by the British border forces over two days and focused on intercepting, tracking and targeting suspect containers, and different ways of detecting restricted and prohibited cargos.




The training targeted 20 officers from Dubai Customs, and the interactive platform was an opportunity for both sides to exchange best practices and experiences in the field. 

Dr. Abdullah Busnad, Executive Director of Customs Inspection Division at Dubai Customs praised the strong relationships between Dubai Customs and the British Customs. He thanked the British Customs for organizing the training. 

“We are committed to enhancing our partnership with the UK to boost protection against illegitimate cargos and to increase mutual trade. 

The UK is one of the main global markets and the seizures that we make by cooperating with them reflect the vital role the two sides play in curbing illegitimate trade activities to protect the global supply chain.”  

On his part, Mohammed Al Ghaffari, Executive Director, Human Resources, Finance and Administration Division at Dubai Customs said developing and growing inspectors’ skills will contribute to the achievement of Dubai Customs strategic objectives. 

“The Customs training center plays an essential role in this regard. The center has a number of advanced programs that can help raise inspectors’ efficiency and improve their performance in detecting restricted and prohibited goods.  

 Along the same line, Mr Thomas Stapleton Regional Manager Fiscal Crime Liaison Office reaffirmed the deep ties between the two departments, and the importance of security and economy cooperation to facilitate trade and protect societies from the hazards of illegitimate trade.

Stapleton commended Dubai Customs for their outstanding achievements over the years and for their sophisticated systems and advanced infrastructure.
