Dubai Customs celebrates Women’s International Day

Celebrating the Women’s International Day, which is observed on 8th March annually, Dubai Customs organized an online event in the presence of Director General Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, and a number of Dubai Customs’ female employees. 




Musabih congratulated them for the great role they play. “The UAE women played a substantial role in the advancement of our country. They made a huge progress overcoming many challenges, and now they have outstanding presence in all occupations, assuming many senior positions in different sectors and contributing towards the successes that we have achieved in the UAE including our historical Mars Mission,” he said. 

The UAE leadership has empowered women and opened doors of education and work wide open for them, and this helped advance the UAE to top the Arab World and 18th rank on the global gender equality index, he added. 

Director General of Dubai Customs highlighted the noticeable role Dubai Customs’ Women’s Committee in enhancing the women’s role in advancing customs sector. There are 754 female employees in the Government Department, including 255 women who work in the field as inspection officers and in other security occupations. 

On her part, Maryam Khalifa Al Shamsi, Head of Women's Committee at Dubai Customs  thanked H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih for his continuous support, and said the Women’s International Day’s theme this year: (Choose to Challenge) is a great one because from challenge comes change, so let's all choose to challenge. Al Shamsi said the wise leadership in the UAE has always supported women and empowered them towards a greater role in society on an equal footing with men. 

The event included a lecture presented by Moza Al Hamli, a certified trainer and life coach at Azher Academy, on challenges, opportunities and women’s role.
