Air Cargo Center Management at Dubai Customs is organizing the first public auction since the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The auction will take place among strict precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of participants. Dubai Cargo Village and Dnata’s first auction in 2020 will be on goods that weren’t cleared by their proprietors, and will take place at Cargo Village Customs Center, Block 1410-B next Thursday 27th August 2020 at 9am.
The goods to be auctioned include clothes, electronics, shoes, mobile phones, and medical accessories, and will follow certain conditions specified by Dubai Customs. Viewing of the goods will be at the auction’s warehouse on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, 23rd, 24th and 25th August. A non-refundable down payment equal to 10% of the value of the goods to be auctioned must be paid in cash. Goods can be sold either en bloc or separately. The successful bidder must collect the purchased goods within five (5) days after the auction date and any goods uncollected within the prescribed period will be forfeited and sold at the next auction.
“Dubai Customs auctions follow a number of cohesive legal and transparent regulations following an auction policy issued by Dubai Customs in 2008 which contribute towards a fulfilment of its vision of becoming the global leading customs administration supporting legitimate trade,” said Salih Al Shamsi, Director of Air Cargo Center Management. “The date and place of the auction have been announced on Dubai Customs website and bidders can view the goods on the dates specified.”
Senior Inspection Officer Abdul Rahman Mousa Ashour, who is in charge of auctions at the Air Cargo Center Management said:
“Dubai Customs will apply strict precautionary measures to its first auction this year. This means all participants in the auction will have to wear facemasks and maintain social distancing. Disinfectants will be available at the auction area, and there will be a temperature check of participants before entering the auction zone.”
