
The Passenger Operations Department organized an induction meeting for the newly-joining inspectors at DC Headquarters, with the presence of HE Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Dubai Customs Director, Ahmed Abdulla bin Lahej, Airport Operations Department Director, Lubna Al Muhairi, HR Department Director and Airport Operations officials at DXB.
Dubai Customs Director welcomed the new cadres and congratulated them for becoming a part of the world’s best and busiest airports , highlighting DC’s approach in paving the way for its human capital to create and innovate, and the pivotal role of Dubai Customs as a guardian of economy and security via trade and passengers facilitation across land, sea and air ports. He also acknowledged the Customs cadets status as ‘ambassadors’ to the country, representing its longstanding history in hospitality towards guests.
Ahmed bin Lahej, while addressing the inspectors, stressed upon the critical role DC inspectors are assuming amidst the current economy and security challenges. He also stated that, “ we are utilizing the best practices in the world and most advanced high-tech systems in order to cope with security challenges of the world.” He also called upon the new recruits to maintain the highest levels of integrity and fidelity as required by Dubai Government and by the Customs work in particular. He hailed DC inspectors’ attested vigilance and readability which is attributed to the all-embracing trainings catered for employees such as body language, inspection, control, intelligence analysis and many other finely tailored disciplines.
“Customs inspectors are the first defence line to the country, and they are the key player in deterring all kinds of smuggling attempts, being the watchful eyes upon the wellbeing of the society,” Ahmed bin Lahej added.
Lubna Al Muhairi also addressed the staff with the human resources general strategy and the HR services at Dubai Customs. She also affirmed that Dubai Customs is launching many initiatives for its 2016 plan targeting the human capital as the department’s real investment. She also pointed out that Dubai Customs Training Center has planned 374 training courses during 2016, with 256 internal courses and 118 external courses targeting 2694 employees.
Al Muhairi also noted the importance of the HR Gate at Dubai Customs, which was development to ensure the synergy of procedures, quality of services provided to employees and instigating the internal and external communication between employees and the HR Department. She said the service was focused on enhancing employee satisfaction, developing an organization culture based on quality, excellence and continuous development, and creating a healthy work environment for all employees.
