Dubai Customs commences National Day celebrations

Dubai: Dubai Customs has started its celebrations of the 40th National Day in partnership with a number of government and private entities that represent all society segments who can participate in several competitions and contest that aims at instilling union’s spirit which is inspired by the vision of their  Highnesses, the Founders of the UAE. The competitions also aim at fostering loyalty to national culture and heritage.

Mrs. Feryal Tawakul, Executive Director –Community Affairs & Government Partnership- Dubai Customs said that the department has adopted a number of programs to allow all segments of society to participate and express their joy. These initiative include the launch of photography competition which includes generous rewards and prizes. The competition will last for 15 days from 1 to 15 November. All can take part in the competition by taking photos that expresses the union’s spirit where the UAE’s flag should be a main component of the photos. The best photos will be selected to build a huge puzzle picture that draws the features of the UAE union.

Tawakul added that the public can, starting from Saturday 26 November, build this huge picture at Mirdif City Center over a week to be finished on the National Day, which falls in the  2nd December.

Dubai Customs has also prepared kid entertainment programs to practice their hobbies such as drawing on ceramics, painting and will have the chance to familiarize themselves with the customs inspection work through our cartoon character (Jamrook) who will be available during the week at Dubai Customs’ stand at Mirdif City Center. There will also be Liua and Youla folklore dances, traditional craft exhibits, and a black and white photograph exhibition.

Dubai Customs Director General invited everyone to participate in Dubai Custom’s National Day celebrations whether through visiting its stand at the shopping center to take part in building the huge collage picture, or through the photography competition. The department has exclusively set up a state of the art media studio in its stand to be used by TV and radio broadcasting stations for airing programs related to UAE’s celebration for this cherished occasion.

Ahmed Butti Ahmed explained that this year’s celebrations will encompass a number of different events organized by all Customs center in the emirate to enable Dubai Customs staffs to express their joy of the National Day and recall the leading role that the Founding Fathers have played in achieving their great achievements during the last four decades.
