Dubai Customs has launched a new platform of discussion among employees. Al Barza discussion forum is an electronic platform for DC staff to voice their thoughts and feedback on Customs processes and work flow. It is created to facilitate rich, engaging discussions through the sharing of views, ideas and experiences.
Commenting on the launch of this initiative, H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, said: “As a new electronic platform for interaction and knowledge sharing amongst DC employees, Al Barza will empower discussions and further help create an environment conducive to innovation and creativity at Dubai Customs, in line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
“We hope this forum will serve as a wide-open window for employees to express their feedback and share work-related experiences. Through this forum, we launch a continuous brainstorming session among DC employees that helps generate productive ideas and unleash innovations.”
The Director of Dubai Customs stressed the organization’s belief that its human resources are its true assets. “We seek to create a positive work environment that rests on productive communication and interaction.”
The forum is expected to increase employee satisfaction, which in 2014 scored a high percentage of 86%, and meet the 2015 goal of 95% for employee satisfaction as set by DC Senior Management.
“We will keenly monitor the ideas and feedback conveyed by employees through the forum to encourage all employees to be active participants in the forum and engage regularly in raised topics to help DC nurture knowledgeable staff members who have a good understanding of work processes. Suggestions and ideas will be evaluated by experts in various departments within DC. Suggestions that are proven feasible and will present DC with an added value, will see the light,” said Mr. Musabih.
According to Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, Director of Corporate Communication, Al Barza Forum is set to contribute to spreading positive energy amongst staff members in the workplace. It will also back up DC’s efforts in furthering work performance and employee involvement in giving substance to its vision and mission of supporting the country’s sustainable economic growth.
“Through Al Barza, we are steering the communication functions using an inclusive approach, whereby we can achieve the highest results in the realms of internal and external two-way communication to bring everyone together around a common goal: Sharing Knowledge, Building Tomorrow,” said Bin Gharib.
