Dubai Customs to participate in Careers UAE 2015

​Dubai Customs is set to take part in Careers UAE 2015, a nationwide annual exhibition that is due to be held during April 28-30 at Dubai World Trade Centre. Dubai Customs will have two stands in the job fair; the first will be in Sheikh Saeed Hall, Platform No. C-8-2, and the second one will be included in the pavilion of Dubai Government Human Resources Department.
 
Mr. Buti Abdullah Al Jumairi, Executive Director, Human Resources, Finance and Administration Affairs Division, Dubai Customs, said: “Participation of Dubai Customs in the new round of Careers UAE 2015 Exhibition will be in line with the declaration of 2015 as Year of Innovation by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the National Innovation Strategy launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and in pursuit of the vision of our wise leadership urging us to do our best to provide a stimulating environment that encourages people to adopt innovation as a lifestyle, so that the UAE can occupy the first position in this field worldwide. Under the slogan ‘Dubai Customs: Your Gateway to Innovation and Creativity’, Dubai Customs will participate in the event to attract the national young jobseekers that look for an empowering, innovation-driven workplace.’’
 
Dubai Customs will provide 194 vacancies during the term of the Exhibition, including in customs inspection, finance and accounting, IT, legal affairs, strategic affairs, excellence and others,  added Al Jumairi. “Emirati nationals in Dubai Customs currently represent 85% of our staff. This reflects the highest rate of Emiratization across the Government agencies. Additionally, we are proud to declare that 100% of our customs inspectors are UAE citizens. Customs inspectors represent the highest percentage of our staff. Dubai Customs sets annual training plans for supporting the new employees and developing their skills in order to enhance the level of performance and work standards.”
 
 Online Job Applications:
“Our participation this year is different, as Dubai Customs created the link: http://www.dubaicustoms.gov.ae/ar/Pages/JobApplication.aspx through which jobseekers can apply for vacancies, and we will communicate with them during the Exhibition. Human Resources Officers will conduct interviews with applicants on site at our stand. The move is being taken in order to find the skillful employees who can immediately and efficiently fill these vacancies,” said Al Jumairi.
Smart Platform:
Lubna Al Muhairi, Director of Human Resources Department at Dubai Customs, affirmed that: “In line with the transformation into a Smart Government Department pursuant to the Smart Government Initiative launched by H.H. Sheikh  Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Customs’ stand will be fully prepared as a smart platform. Visitors of the platform can use six laptops and four iPads to submit job  applications electronically. A room will be allocated for the interviews, so that interviewees will have a good experience while maintaining their privacy.
“Dubai Customs has set criteria for providing a work environment that supports innovation thorough knowledge empowerment and sharing of experience. DC was engaged in knowledge transfer and exchange of expertise with more than 40 government authorities inside and outside the UAE until 2014. Due to the wise and supporting leadership and field communication among the management and employees, Dubai Customs created a positive and innovative work environment. Furthermore, Dubai Customs supports innovators by registering their patents and helping them participate in national, regional and international innovation awards. Statistics indicate that Dubai Customs won 12 national innovation awards and 24 international innovation awards till 2014,” added Al Muhairi. 
Orientation Workshops:
Dubai Customs also seeks, through this participation in Careers UAE 2015, to develop interview skills of jobseekers. Special orientation workshops will be held during the exhibition to enhance applicants’ skills and capabilities and prepare them to successfully pass their interviews.
