Dubai Customs Ladies Committee organized a bundle of activities in celebration of the International Women’s Day, observed on the 8th of March every year.
This year’s celebration was marked by granting a special tribute to influential female figures in the society as a whole under the theme: “Role Model Woman”. The approach of this initiative is to shed light one of most distinguished role models, who radiates positive influence on her female colleagues at work and whose activeness in the community is proven.
H.E Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Dubai Customs Director, accoladed Dr. Rafea Ghabash – founder of The Women's Museum, with the “Role Model Woman” shield from Dubai Customs. This gesture came as a tribute to Dr. Ghabash’s efforts in enriching the role of the Emirati woman and increasing her presence in the community through a wide range of women projects, mainly the “Women’s Museum” which is set to project the status of the Emirati woman, documenting her past and present achievements in political, social and cultural aspects as well as her part in rearing the offspring.
Also as part of its International Women’s Day celebrations, Dubai Customs organized a three-day “Al Mandoos” exhibition. The name “Al Mandoos” – which refers to a traditional handmade box that women use to keepsake their precious items – was specially selected to reflect upon some of women’s most cherished interests. The fair is also in line with Dubai Customs’ strategy to support Emirati women to attain more achievements in all fields.
The Ladies Committee in Dubai Customs plays an active role with regard to women best interest, by presenting female employees with tailored and valuable activities and workshops, including “ Mentoring my own household” delivered by Mrs. Muna Abdulla Saqer, the Founder and Manager of “Islah That Al Bayn” center in Kuwait, in addition to “You are the prettiest” workshop presented by a host of experts from Clinica Joelle.
