Following the recent visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Almazbek Atambayev, which resulted in the signing of eight agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between the UAE and Kyrgyzstan, Dubai Customs and the Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in the United Arab Emirates explored ways to enhance bilateral trade.
H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, welcomed H.E. Kuban Omuraliev, Consul General of Kyrgyzstan in Dubai, at Dubai Customs headquarters, in presence of Faisal Eissa Lutfi, Acting Director of External Affairs Department at Dubai Customs. The meeting witnessed discussions of means to further boost bilateral trade.
“Dubai- Kyrgyzstan trade has grown steadily over the years. In 2013, it amounted to AED 2.15 billion, with imports accounting for AED 1.6 billion, exports for AED 16 million and re-exports for AED 552.5 billion. We in Dubai Customs strive to boost bilateral trade by making available top quality customs facilitations to Kyrgyz traders and investors,” said Ahmed Mahboob Musabih.
On his part H.E. Kuban Omuraliev, commended Dubai Customs’ cooperation and support of the bilateral trade between the UAE and Kyrgyz Republic. He also stressed the importance of promoting bilateral communication and coordination in order to further benefit from Dubai Customs’ top-notch services as well as from the advanced infrastructure and facilitations Dubai has put in place for the business community.
Faisal Eissa Lutfi Acting Director of External Affairs Department at Dubai Customs, stated, “The External Affairs Department is keen on fostering ties between DC and the Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic, as we shall be working on boosting communication with them as a part of “Irtibat” initiative, launched by DC to further cement ties with consulates and business councils of all countries.”
